Hi, I’m Jessie!
I haven’t always been a photographer, but I’ve always appreciated the fine art of photography. When I became a mom, my lack of photography skills frustrated me. All I wanted to do was take great pictures of my children! Luckily, they were always around to practice on.
Practice, combined with education and mentoring, helped me develop the skills I needed to capture my children in the best light. Literally! Soon my friends and family were asking for me to photograph them.
I started Smiling Down Photography in the Fall of 2010. I haven’t put down my camera since!
I’ve always been drawn to photographing small children and capturing their emerging personalities! Although I’m excited to expand my business into Newborn Photography, Family portraits will always remain my specialty.
Equipment
I currently shoot with a Canon 6D full frame DSLR. I’ve been a loyal Canon girl since picking up my first 35mm film camera in 2001.
I mainly shoot with prime lenses because you can’t beat the sharpness! I use a Sigma Art 35mm 1.4, a Sigma 50mm 1.4, a Canon 85mm 1.8 Portrait Lens, a Canon 100mm 2.8, and a Canon 24mm 2.8 wide angle lens.
